About the Role
This is a key senior role responsible for all actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis activities for Swiss Re's L&H Reinsurance business in South East Asia, which consist of key growth markets for Swiss Re with a dynamic range of insurance products and reinsurance structures. In addition, the role also covers consolidation and reporting of business written in Swiss Re Asia Limited, which is the headquarters of Swiss Re's reinsurance business in Asia.
- Overall ownership of South East Asia's L&H actuarial deliveries to internal Swiss Re stakeholders in Asia and Group level, and external stakeholders including auditors and regulators
- Lead the Singapore and Bangalore actuarial reporting teams to provide high quality production of US GAAP, EVM and Statutory actuarial valuation
- Provide oversight of actuarial reporting activities in other SRAL branches and perform consolidated reporting to the MAS
- Support the transition to IFRS17
- Lead or provide support, as appropriate, into capital management, ALM, risk management and regulatory engagement activities
- Be a trusted advisor to the business through insightful analysis, proactive understanding of market developments, and engagement with other L&H functions to provide advice on new business activities and enable effective management of the L&H inforce portfolios
- Be part of the senior management in Singapore, provide leadership and guidance to junior colleagues
- Represent Asia in regional and global projects as appropriate
About the Team
The L&H Actuarial Management team is responsible for actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis activities for all reinsurance business written in Asia, meeting regulatory requirements and providing insights to improve the performance of Swiss Re's L&H business in Asia. The L&H Actuarial Management function resides within the L&H Business Management division. The mandate of Business Management is effective management of Swiss Re's inforce business. Other functions within Business Management are Claims Management, Portfolio Management and Technical Accounting.
About You
You will apply your strong technical knowledge, business experience and leadership qualities to be an effective regional leader. You will have the following attributes:
- Around 15 years of L&H (re)insurance experience in either valuation or pricing functions, with at least 8 years post qualification experience;
- FIA, FIAA, FFA, FSA or another internationally recognized actuarial qualification;
- Deep knowledge of insurance accounting, reserving and solvency regimes in Asia;
- Candidates with direct experience in Singapore, Asia regional, US GAAP, IFRS or economic reporting are preferred;
- Effective working experience with senior management of varied backgrounds;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and people management skills; Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic business propositions, but also have business mind-set to be solutions oriented;
- Fluent spoken and written English.
